A major pointer to Arsenal's future to be announced this afternoon.

My good friends over at Arseblog and Gunnerblog have their ears to the ground a lot more than me, and have found out that David Dein is to have a press conference this afternoon.

It could mean that the play we were all expecting, Dein selling to Kroenke as the first stage in a takeover bid, is about to transpire.

However, other names, darker names, have been mentioned, chief among them - and I stress this is merely a rumour at the moment - Boris Berezovsky.

This man cannot become involved in our club. He is a crook and a gangster. He acquired his business skills and empire in the bandit capitalism that gripped Russia during the 1990s. He is, however much he denies it, probably the force behind MSI, the group responsible for the Tevez and Mascherano debacles. He has suffered several assassination attempts, the most recent occuring in July of this year.

Moreover, the only man to attempt to investigate Berezovsky's murky past was murdered. In 2004, Paul Klebnikov, who wrote the book 'Godfather of the Kremlin' was shot dead in Moscow.

I won't write any more on this man for now, as it's too early to tell what's going on, but even I would prefer Kroenke to him.

Here's hoping tonight's conference isn't too unsettling.

seems like a good guy does he ?? do you know anything about his past and how he made his money ? Much the same way as this Berezovsky character.

Dodgy as fuck

Berezovsky is, for what it's worth, an Arsenal fan, and has a box at the Emirates.

Our current board are a bunch of money-grabbing cunts anyway - so I'd be happy to see them ousted ASAP. Berezovsky wouldn't be my choice, but it's only a rumour anyway.

Oh, and just to point out the obvious, if Goonerboy were an anti-semite, he'd be AGAINST our current board (which I am, but for other reasons), which is partially jewish.

glazers at man u jewish, arsenal's major shareholder jewish, tottenham's owner is jewish, chelsea's owner's jewish, aston villa's owner's jewish, portmouth owner, yes you guessed it jewish.Gold brothers at birmingham, jewish, and liverpools owner jewish albeit shares ownership, i think you get the gist, jews who own football clubs have been good for our game, so stop worrying and defaming people. remember david dein jewish and he bought wenger and he has in turned bought millions in to the clubs coffers not to mention trophies.

If only someone bought us, handed Wenger £50m, and told him to go and fucking spend it on 2 players over the age of 20, and not come back until he had.

We'd win the title.

Maybe Dein is coming back???

goonerboy, thats what they say about chelsea's owner, dont they.

If this discussion descends into anti-semitic abuse, I will turn the comments off.

This is your only warning.

if someone hander wenger 50 million, he'd hand it back and say i have as many players as i need thanks very much, crazy but true.

And to who those who persist with the view that David Dein has Arsenal's best interests at heart, please let this be the needle that bursts that bubble once and for all. Making an announcement such as this at the very time the CL draw is being made is spiteful, and is purely intended to make things difficult for whover is in Monaco representing us (probably Edelman - who Dein hates). The press are going to be firing away with question after question about takeovers and crisis.. and what CL group we are in will be just a footnote.

Anon. 2.20.

Yes, and it's probably as true as it is with Berezovsky.

None of the Russian oligarchs should be anywhere near English football. It's a disgrace that we've let these crooks come into our game.

goonerboy chill man, have we hit a nerve, it is a genuine problem, but i'll be a good boy

Abramovitch did not gain his money in a savoury manner, but he's a smart man and an opportunist - if it hadn't been him, it would have been someone else.

Berezovsky however is more political, and more underhand than Abramobitch ever was. But on the other hand, I have had acquaintances with people who are his acquaintances, and I'm told he's actually a nice guy who is a genuine Arsenal fan.

so is bin laden if im not mistaken

anon @ 20.21 - well, he can take a running jump then. If he insists on managing the club on a shoestring, that's his problem.

Give him a budget and force him to spend it.

Bin Laden allegedly has a connection to the football club - but I somehow doubt that supporting a jewish backed, london based football club fits into his fundamental islamic outlook.

Berezovsky has a box at Arsenal - and uses it.

Yep they are such a bunch of money grabbers that the shares they own in the club haven't paid a dividend in 33 years. All the profits the club makes stays in the club.

Have a look at the former owners of Newcastle to see how much could have been bled form the club had they really been money grabbers.

Clearly you're a know nothing idiot.

Our current board are money grabbing c#nts?? Thats just the craziest thing Ive ever heard. All of the current shareholders on the board have been entitled to dividends on their shares for nearly 20 years and have NEVER taken one. They are Arsenal people, and they are the people who took us to the top of the tree and built a brand new state-of-the-art stadium, which they have financed smartly with no risk to our short term future. Wenger has all the funds he needs, but because he isnt a capitalist whore, he doesnt spend it. We have the best board in football, bar none.... whoever made that comment should go and support Spurs, then they'd find out what a shitty board was all about.

If the board are money-grabbing c**ts, then why don't they take out any dividends, instead of reinvesting all the profits into the club? Only the executive members of the board get any salary at all. The increase in the value of shares benefits them only if they sell and they have been the ones risking their money over the many decades I've been supporting the Arse... best run club by far....

Trite nonsense, I'm afraid.

They pay themselves a salary, from the clubs finances, that THEY THEMSELVES DICTATE.

Do you even know how much of a dividend they forgo?

Bollocks.

We pay the HIGHEST prices in the world, and see the LOWEST investment in our team of ANY club currently in the top flight. We have MORE tacky gimmicks at the club than any other in the league. Regular fans are totally priced out of attending games regularly. We've just introduced a totally needless, and thoroughly shit third kit FOR THE FIRST TIME, purely for the sake of GRABBING MORE CASH. The board are now even trying to trademark the word 'GOONER'. Money grabbing cunts - just wake up and smell the coffee.

This whole argument about not taking a dividend is utter cobblers, I'm afraid, and has more to do with growing the share-price than giving out of the 'goodness of their heart'. Believe me, the current board know fuck all about generosity. Bunch of silver spoon cockmuncher aristocrats - they're not in it for anything other than money.

nothing new with arsenal not spending, since phw has been i place and infact not only him but his father and grandfather b4 i'll bet we have been and are the cheepest money loving refuse to spend club in the history of football for the amount that we we bring in, its obsurd.

i also think wenger is hypnotized ito thinking the clubs money is his own eithe rby choice or some spooky experiment by the arsenal board carried out by trained scientists in the middle of the night using a clowns uniform and stilts

check out the pay here.

I've no idea about how much dividend they forgo because they don't forgo it. the shares just don't pay a dividend. They as the major shareholders could of course change that.

No dividends paid since 1974.

Nothing to do with UEFA stating all clubs playing in the champions league must have 2 change kits then?

The board do a good job although every so often they do make a right PR balls up (eg the gooner thing - plain daft!). 15 years ago we were on the verge of becoming also-rans until Wenger was appointed, to much ridicule. The money's there, he just doesn't WANT to spend.
BTW AFC have had 3rd kits for over a decade now! kids these days! want everything on a plate!

Is it a coincidence that so many of today's comments have been posted anonymously?! Will all blogs and comments have to done anonymously if Berezovsky does buy a shareholding for fear of reprisals?

The ill informed comments about our board are extraordinary - Danny Fiszman must be tempted to contact Boris's hitman himself
