Campbell sold to Fenerbahce? Any turkish speakers out there?

Ok:

1) myles has just posted on ANR that Campbell has gone to Fenerbahce for £8m.

2) I found this in the arses on Arseblog: http://www.fenerbahce.com/haberler/18164.php

All odd, interesting; but true?

Do we have any Turkish speakers out there to translate.

Edit: easier linkage: ANR article Fenerbahce site

I am shocked. Is this really true? He will be 32 this year, and can of course not rely on a new contract with the salary he has. Maybe this was his oportunity to make something big out of his last years with a ball?

OMG !!! i thought palmer was joking about all that 'silly season' stuff, but the ferabace site looks pretty official

Give me a link, please!

The Fenerbache site does look official - but, critically, no one i know of actually knows what it bloody says!

Remember on the Arsenal website, there have been articles about Zigic, Davies etc. to refute that Arsene was interested in them. I'm not saying that's the case, but unless we find a turkish speaker, who knows!

Helge - link is on the article: you need to copy it into your address box though, as I didn't format it properly. Sorry.

That site is not official!!! I know for a fact

Links have now been updated.

Ok,

The Fenerbahce link is not the official site. This is:

http://www.fenerbahce.org/eng/

No mention of Sol on here.

There was footage of Campbell on a Turkish sports channel yesterday getting off a plane in Turkey with a view to moving to Fener. I'm surprised it has taken over 24hours 4 anyone to pick up on this

look at the headline:

Campell'e büyük karşılama

büyük must mean buy

Anonymous said...

buyuk means big

Get a dictionary :)

My guess is it's true. Unless Myles has lost his head (or think its April 1st).

Anyway, I back Wenger if it's true.

From what I can make of the headline (with an online dictionary) it says:

"Campbell gets unstinted reception".

büyük = unstinted, profuse
karşılama = reception

Wow, it only took 7 & a half hours for anyone to notice my post on the ARSES this morning.

Mate, how the hell did yo find that article?

The credit has to go to the urchins on AWIMB.COM, one of whom must have been watching Turkish TV yesterday when the story broke over there.

Considering Campbell's problems were front page news a couple of months back I'm still surprised no one in the wider media has picked up on this story

whats going on.

Replace a very experienced defender with a 21 year old who just got relegated? sound dodgy and asking for trouble. Have both and ease him in. AW said he wants campbell to stay right?

Anonymous said...

I would say this is a load of rubbish.

If it were true your not telling me our press would have totally missed it?

I know their track record is that they usually miss all the real stories and spend all summer printing stuff that never happens, but if this was a done deal they would have picked up on it by now...and no one is reporting it.

ANR is a bit of a mixed bag. I think his opinions are great and its always a cracking read, but Myles has stated, in the time I've been reading it, that the Baptista deal was completed, and that Beckham wanted to come to Arsenal.

However, he does have certain sources which have given him scoops before.

I'm not saying this is true or false yet. It may well be, if this speculation regarding campbell flying out to turkey is true; but is it?

The papers will defo report on this tomorrow at some level: whether they'll just label it as rumour or as a bona fide done deal is another thing.

I'll update the site when I know.

Eurosport are now running the story:

Talksport are assuring everyone its a hoax!!

Think about it realistically for a minute. Why would campbell go to turkey, he would have to take a drop in wages for a start & secondly his career after football he hopes will be in films, out there his profile will sink not rise!! It all makes no sense at all.

www.fenerbahce.org is the official website, and since there is nothing on that site about Sol Campbell it means that Fenerbahce have not denied it. Usually when the media link Fenerbahce with a player, Fenerbahce.org almost immediatly deny it and post it on the website. In this case it hasn't so I'm guessing that Fenerbahce are really going for Campbell.

How I know this? Because of the Roberto Carlos rumour. Everyone was linking Roberto Carlos to Fenerbahce but about 24 hours later Fenerbahce.org denied it.

The Sol Campbell rumour has been going around for about a week now and yet there isn't any denial.

So yes Fenerbahce SK may just sign Sol Campbell.

And in response to "Why would Campbell go to Turkey". Why did Anelka go to Turkey? Why did Stephan Appiah go to Turkey when he could of gone to Middlesbrough? Why did Alex De Souza go to Turkey when he could of gone to Barcelona. Why did Pierre Van Hooijdonk go to Turkey?

Let's take Pierre, he had the time of his life in Turkey and his wife didn't want to leave. Pierre wants to come back when he retires and be a coach or even the next manager!

Anelka, because he has been playing so well in Turkey he gets called back up to France? He was Man City's top scorer but he never got called up there did he?

Stephen Appiah is having the time of his life also in Turkey. He says he wants to stay at least another 2 years.

Alex De Souza is also having the time of life in Turkey.

And we have many big names like Tuncay Sanli who's been linked with umm...what's that well known team? AC MILAN.

Campbell sold news first came out 2 days ago on www.ajansspor.com and internetspor.com ,Arsenal are short of money and paying henry £22.8 million for 4 seasons is not easy specialy for a club who has NO sponsorship income for the next 15 years as Nike paid them upfront £50 mil which was used as a deposit for the bank loan to Royal bank od scotland plus another £50 million was raised by selling the name of the stadium for 15 years to cover the extra cost of the stadium,so either Campbelk or Cole was going to be sacrificed and it had to be Campbell besides considering the pressure he will still be under next season in PL,it only makes sense to disappear to turkey specialy when £4 million is on offer for 2 seasons.

http://www.ajansspor.com/haber/144380

saying according to french media Campbell will put pen to paper on tuesday and the total cost of the deal to Fenerbahce is £8 million which includes Fenerbahce taking the remainder of sol campbells contract over which is worth £70.000 a week.

hi every body I am turkish and fenerbahce suppotter. the official site of fenerbahce denied the news. the clup said that we do not interested with sol campell and there did not occur any transfer relations with campell or arsenal!

Anonymous said...

Just watch Sol flying to Turkey, and guess with which other Arsenal player?

Guys I have to admit even I can't believe to these rumours sometimes. I'm a Fenerbahce fan, and as far as I can tell Roberto Carlos is going to sign a deal with us, tomorrow. In addition to that we also signed a contract with the guy called Lugano. He has been shown the best stopper in South America. Anyway these rumours of Sol Campell.. I know that we could sign a deal with him when our manager Zico would accepted. However what he told to a TV was different. He said that he would like to see Sol Campell in the team but because of this Foreign Player limit in Turkey he wants to take his chance with a younger and better player. It's what he said actually. But nowadays there is a rumour that Anelka is on his way to Portsmouth. If this deal is real we will have one more chance to transfer a forign player. This could be Sol Campell but the thing is I know that we will lack with the performances of Turkish scorers after Anelka's leave. So that's why I believe we are going to get Crespo from Chelsea. He admitted that we proposed adeal to him and he also admitted that he may want to try his luck in Turkey. But This Sol Campell thing is a bit uncertain. I guess we won't be able to get him - I really want him to come btw. -. One more thing I think I'm late but www.fenerbahce.com is not our official site. www.fenerbahce.org is our official website. If there's anything you want me to translate to english from turkish I will try to help you. You can e-mail your texts to factorydriver@gmail.com
